Time to Start Training Again!

Hi!

Its time to start getting back into training mode which is exciting and nerve racking.  I bought Train Like A  Mother and I am following their Marathon: Finish It plan.  I am doing most of the training this time solo with the exception of a few longer runs with Katie.  She has a new schedule and now has to work on our regular group run day.  Since I live a good 30-40 minutes from the group runs I'll probably do most of it on my own.    I am making a few adjustments to the plan but I am going to plan on 4 days of running along with 3-4 days of cross training.  Its a 20 week plan so that'll put me on target for spring marathon season, woop!

I am excited to collect more of these pictures in 2013!

This morning I started another 90 days of Chalean which wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.  I guess taking time off isn't always the best idea!  I was all wobbly and couldn't lift very heavy but I am glad to be back in my routine again.  I didn't want to wait till after Christmas because I know that longer you stay off your routine it only gets harder to start up again.  I am glad I took the break though because now I feel motivated and refreshed instead of burnt out.

Hello ladies, I am back!

If your from the Portland area you should try and come to Sherwood's 1st Friday Holiday Run this Friday the 7th at 5:00 pm.  We are meeting in Old Town at Symposium to do an easy 3-5 mile run and then afterwards enjoying all that 1st Friday has to offer.  I hope to see you there!

Do you ever take breaks from your regular workout routines?

Do you have a training plan for your upcoming races or just wing it?

Happy Holidays!

Good morning!

I can't believe so much time has gone by so quickly!  We spent Thanksgiving down in Northern California with my Mom and it was a lot of fun.  My Aunt and Uncle live down there also so we were able to spend the day all together which was a first!

In other fun news I actually got an article published in our local paper!  I took a leap and put myself out there and it turned out that the editor liked my idea.  I am really excited about taking my first step towards becoming a writer and I love that it is in our local paper.

Believe it or not I have been running but not as much as I would like.  Its been crazy with the holidays coming up but making it a priority is what will keep me on track.  I ran 3 miles on Tuesday and today will be a treadmill run in the garage.  I have a love/hate relationship with the treadmill, grateful I have it but I always prefer running outside.  Although staying dry and being able to watch Parenthood is a nice perk!

I have lots of fun ideas and changes coming to my blog after the new year and I am so excited.  I started this blog as a personal diary of my running and next year I have lots of fun ideas for next year with my running and I am excited and nervous about reaching those goals.  One thing I do know is that I am at my most comfortable and at ease mentally when I am on a training plan.  It causes me to eat right and rest at night and relax during my off time.  As a busy girl who loves to be doing something it takes a lot to calm me down and make me sit and running makes me do that.  If you want to be successful in your running goals you have to make the time for them and prioritize.  I am excited to start 2013 with marathon goals and see where it all takes me, running was a game changer in 2012, I see good things for 2013.

I hope you all have a good weekend!  We have Santa arriving by helicopter tomorrow and Sherwood's tree lighting, I am so ready for Christmas!  Plus I think Santa may deliver his helper Mr. Elf today, let the fun begin!

What are some of your goals for 2013?

Do you set goals or resolutions?  Or neither?!

Do you have anything going on this weekend to get ready for Christmas?

Sherwood 1st Friday Holiday Run

Hi!

I took last week off from writing my blog and reading blogs and it was a nice break.  As much as I love to run, read about running, plan my runs and try to become a better runner sometimes you have to take a break.  It was a needed break and now I feel ready to start getting back into everything.  I figured why make it a solo mission and wanted to put a group together.

Meet me Friday December 7th at 5:00 pm in Old Town Sherwood for a 3-5 run/walk.  Sherwood's Holiday Tree will be lit and lots of houses will have their Christmas lights up!  Bring a headlamp if you have one and be sure to wear lots of your reflective gear, it'll be dark out!  The theme of Sherwood's 1st Friday is Ugly Sweaters so bring your worst holiday sweater to change into after our run and shop some of Old Town's great local shops!  There will be wine tasting and local bands playing music all over Old Town Sherwood.  Plus Escape to Yoga will be having their Winter Evening Treat and Client Appreciation that same evening from 7-10 pm, you can get more information about here.  I hope you will come to run with me and stay to shop with me afterwards.  Let me know in the comments if you are planning on coming and I will be able to get more information out about paces and such.

-Do you ever take a break from your usual run/workout routine?

-What helps you get back into a routine?

Sherwood Main Street in Old Town and a 5K!

Hi!

So I apologize now if you aren't a Sherwood local because this post is all about my favorite town.  I've lived in Sherwood for almost 8 years and it became home to me pretty quick.  I love the small town feel of Sherwood with the perk of having Portland only 30 minutes away.  The other day while I was grabbing some information from the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce I came across a brochure and it peaked my interest.  In a nut shell Sherwood has been able to pull together a Historic Preservation and Economic Development organization called Sherwood Main Street in Old Town.  The program's main goal is to boost the local economy and bring in more businesses and consumers into the Old Town section of Sherwood.  I've always loved Sherwood's Old Town and enjoy a lot of the events that are hosted in that part of town.

I wanted to become part of this organization in some way and was excited to see that there is a lot of ways for me to do that.  I emailed the coordinator and met up for coffee yesterday morning and learned a little more about what they've been able to do so far and some of their future goals.  I am really excited to start volunteering with Sherwood Main Street and help promote all of the great events and activities they have going on.  I am going to be working with the Organization Committee and volunteering my services as a writer and overly enthusiastic local.

The Hungry Raccoon is a local business in Old Town and also a huge supporter of the Main Street project.  They are putting on a Halloween Hill Climb 5K run this Saturday the 20th in Sherwood with the proceeds benefiting Sherwood Main Street.  The 5K starts at 10:00 AM and the Casper Dash 1 mile run for the kids starts at 11:30 AM.  There are going to be some great refreshments, raffles and I heard a rumor there would be some spoooky zombies hanging around (I know I am a dork)!  If you are looking for a fun and local 5K race this weekend I would try this one out!  It could be a great time to actually place in a race!  Hey, you never know :)  Its $30 for the 5K and $15 for the kids run, Casper Dash.  I'll be there as a volunteer helping to direct the runners along the course, I am excited to be on the other side of the race this time!

I am really looking forward to working with the other volunteers and coordinators to help create an Old Town that benefits the entire Sherwood community.
